Product Description
At Farm Camp your children (ages 5-15) learn firsthand where their food comes from. Weeklong session activities include planting and harvesting, taking care of animals, presentations from area experts, cooking classes, swap blanket, soccer and air hockey, plenty of time to relax and enjoy the farm!
Monday through Friday, 9 am – 3:30 pm, regardless of weather.
Pre/after care available for $10/hr.
Mornings are spent working with farmers in fields and taking care of animals. Activities include:
- Planting, harvesting, and weeding flowers, vegetables and herbs.
- Feeding and caring for 150 animals, including a pony, rare breed chickens, pigs, sheep, goats and ducks.
- Helping in the greenhouse and 109-year-old barn.
Afternoon workshops taught by experts, on subjects such as:
- Chicken farming
- Composting
- Mountain man demonstrations (life before 1840)
- Wildcrafting
- Animal husbandry
- Beekeeping
- Farm art
- Permaculture techniques, like cooking with a solar oven
- Harvesting and processing a rooster
Camp ends with a potluck dinner on Friday, where kids harvest and prepare a dish — perhaps a rooster! — to share with their family.
Current CSA Members: $300 per camper
Non-Farm Members: $325 per camper
$100 non-refundable deposit reserves camper spot.
Space limited to 20 campers. Camps fill quickly, so submitting your deposit(s) online secures your spot(s) now. Priority goes to deposits as they are received. After we receive your deposit, we can send you a PayPal invoice or check info.
