Incubator Farm

Launched in 2011, our Incubator Farm initiative provides aspiring farmers access to: land, tools, tractors, storage, mentorship, growing and marketing guidance.

To date there has been no cost for this program other than utilities used by the farmers. While we piloted this initiative out of our own pockets, in order to expand this program, we are are seeking grants and other donations. Please help so we can grow more farmers like Mike.

Our most recent Incubator Farmer, Mike Mayberry, owner of Marvins Gardens, was a delight. A professional comedian turned farmer, he couldn’t resist bringing humor to his produce, which he sold at local farmers’ markets. Read more about Mike »

After completing his term here, he moved to Kentucky to start his own farm. Though we miss him, we look forward to what he will accomplish on his own “funny farm.”  Every Incubator Farmer teaches us and one of Mike’s lasting legacies is how important it is to bring laughter to your work.

New Farm Institute takes on more Incubator Farmers in Fall 2012. Let us know if you’d like to participate or contribute to the program.
